WHAT IS A"RESCUE"?

Rescues are VERY different from shelters. They are funded solely through donations, are run by volunteers and usually keep dogs in foster homes instead of kennels. Rescue organizations across the U.S. rehome thousands of animals each year. Many specialize in a single breed or species, while some are “all-breed”. At a shelter, you pick the dog you want based off of whatever info the shelter has available, usually pretty limited. Most rescues try to match the right dog to the right home. Purebreed rescues know their breed very intimately and get more of a true read on a dog because it is in a home-type environment.

		WHAT IS "MBR"? Midwest Bloodhound Rescue, Inc. (MBR) is licensed in the State of Illinois as a non-profit organization, licensed as a “rescue/shelter” through the Illinois Department of Agriculture and also recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. MBR consists of a network of dedicated volunteers living throughout the United States. These volunteers donate their homes, money, time and concern simply for the love of the breed. MBR’s mission is to help bloodhounds who are homeless or in need of a new home. Shelter dogs are given the highest priority because the dog is probably under a timed death sentence. Due to extremely limited foster home space, MBR only brings shelter dogs into foster care. Even with this restriction, many are turned away due to lack of space. Please consider volunteering!
		.	It is also our mission to help educate the public about the pros and cons of the bloodhound breed. We love them but they are not for everyone! We are all strong advocates of spay/neuter programs. All other dogs & cats in an adoptive home must also be spayed or neutered unless they are actively competing or there is a verifiable medical reason for them not to be altered. MBR is not a "no-kill" shelter. We believe that dogs with overt aggression or grave health issues should be humanely euthanized. We never euthanize for space.
