Sadie ![]() |
Sadie was adopted by the Jones family of Virginia in September 2001. Her original adopters developed terrible problems with asthma so her new family jumped at the chance to bring her into their lives. She is adjusting beautifully and enjoys playing with her new 2-legged sisters. She also enjoys going to work with Dad and meeting all the new people. Update 9/03: Sadie is doing
very well. She has problems with her hips but still gets around well and
is still very playful. |
Sadie II ![]() |
Sadie II was adopted by the Richert family of Illinois in December 2001. She will be the pampered only dog in her new home but her kitty cousins will need to adapt to her presence. MBR anticipates this calm, shy girl thriving under the solo attention of her new parents. Now Sadie can begin her "pothole" work in another yard! Update 9/03: Sadie II is doing
very well. She still has some issues (digs a lot) but she is getting better.
She is very healthy and playful. |
Sadie
IV |
Sadie was adopted by the Agnew family of Kansas in June 2003. Sadie IV is a very spunky girl who will now be able to put all her energy to good use as she begins training as an official SAR dog. She will also enjoy playing with her new 2-legged brothers and 4-legged sisters. |
Sadie V |
Sadie was adopted by the Murphy family of Indiana in January 2007 . This sweet older gal will now be able to live out her golden years being loved and spoiled by her new people. Sadie V now has 5 two-legged siblings and 2 four-legged youngsters to help keep her young and active…..or just to cuddle on the couch with when she wants! |
Sam ![]() |
Sam was adopted by the Soby family of Illinois in September 2002. This active youngster will enjoy ALL the attention in his new home with his new dad and brother. |
Sam
II ![]() |
Sam II was adopted by the Walker/Pollock family of Illinois in March 2003. This beautiful bob-tailed boy will enjoy playing with his new Boxer sister. At least they will have matching tails! Update 10/03: Sam II knows where he belongs. He has gotten out a couple of times and loves to ride in the back of trucks. He is pretty happy. He has to have his toys and likes to bark while holding a pop can in his mouth. Update: Thought I would write and let you know that Sam is adjusting to life
at
our house very well. He has not marked in my house, though he has
chased my cat. He is very intelligent - figured out the dog gate after one try. He
greets me when I get home from work with woo, woo, woo. You are right,
he does kind of sound like a train! He and our boxer (a female) have never had a disagreement. I am
considering an obedience class for him, though, since it's kind of hard
to get him to pay attention when he has fixated on something. He is
definitely opinionated, though in a sweet way. My son, (also Sam) loves him, too. They play tug-o-war and go running
together. My husband likes him (says he's beautiful and sweet) but
doesn't try to handle him. We took him to town in the back of the truck (it has a topper) and
Tilly (our boxer) went with us. He hung his head out the side window
all the way to town, first on one side, then on the other. It was
really funny to watch him because even the loose skin around his neck
was blowing back. He was quite a sight with his jowls, his ears and his
neck all flapping in the wind! Thanks so much for adopting him out to us. We are really enjoying
him. |
Sara ![]() |
Sara was adopted by the Hamilton/Clark family of Maryland in June 2001. She is now enjoying playing and camping with her new family, including 2 dogs, a horse & a parrot. Update 9/03:Sara is doing very well. Her family also rescued a German Shepherd and they play well together. She still battles chronic ear infections. |
Sarah
|
Sarah was adopted by the Farrier family of Michigan in June 2009. She initially came to us in 2007 with a prong collar embedded in her neck. After healing, she was adopted to a woman who, a year later, dumped her at a shelter without even bothering to call us first. MBR luckily got her back and now she is enjoying her new forever home. |
Sassafras
II |
Sassafras was adopted by the Franklin
family of Kansas in April 2004. She is a very sweet, loving girl who will greatly benefit
from the sole attention she will receive at her new home. Sassy will still
enjoy playing with a few dogs that come to visit and also her two new 2-legged
brothers. |
Saucer
n/k/a Earl ![]() |
Saucer was adopted by the Nelson family of Minnesota in November 2002. Update 12-03: Earl is a good dog, large, but not real smart - he fits right in ;) He is in good health and plays with the other dogs Update: Hi, and Merry Christmas. I feel
bad that I haven't sent an update on
Handsome Earl, (just Earl for the sake of convenience) but I wanted to
get
a picture that captured his true Earlness to send with it. I think it
must
have been your daughter that called me, and being unprepared I didn't
know
what to say, but being a first time bloodhound owner I will try to put
my
experience with him into words. The bloodhound (assuming they are all
fairly similar to mine), is like no other dog I have ever seen. Having
shared a life with several other breeds of dog, there is nothing you
could
have put on your website to prepare me for a hound. Earl came to us
from
you, who got him from a puppy mill, a skinny, timid, 6 month old pup.
It
took him about a week to warm up to us, and get used to the everyday
chaos
that he now calls home. He immediately took to our (then) two year old
son,
and they seem to be sharing a brain (still). Where one is, the other
is
never too far away, and it is never where they should be. I had read
that
as far as intelligence goes, the bloodhound is on the bottom rung of
the
ladder. I did not believe this, but have since found it to be true.
What
Earl lacks in intelligence, coordination, cleanliness, and common sense,
he
more than makes up for with devilishly good looks, and a personality
you
can't help but love. You told me that bloodhounds were escape artists, I
didn't believe you. You explain to me how a dog that can't run from
one
side of the yard to the other without running into something, or
falling
down, can get out of our fenced in yard? (Not to mention the intense
mental
concentration it takes for him to maneuver across linoleum or hardwood) I
originally took Earl to train to Man track, and although I haven't
given up
hope, I still have to keep working with him around people, and
different
environments before that can happen. I used to have to run him down
and
carry him to my pickup, now he comes on his own (hasn't quite figured
out
how to get in, so I still have to lift him). When I first started
walking
him he would pull to the other side of the street if we came across a
pop
can or any sort of garbage that he didn't quite trust. Now we can walk
downtown, and although he is still a little leary of cars, we can stop
and
watch them, whereas before he had to wrap me up in the leash, and try
to
knock me down. I feel I have rambled long enough. Bottom line is he
drools, falls down, runs into things, has a constant air of
bewilderment
about him, but he is a loyal dog, and he is a good dog, and he is my
dog...
Again, Happy Holidays, and keep up the good work! Kurt Nelson and
Family, Thief River Falls MN. P.S.
I have come to accept that this picture is as good as it gets, to truly
appreciate Earl, you would have to see him in action. |

Sky
n/k/a Bella |
Sky was adopted by the Toner family of Illinois in September 2004. Update: I re-named "Sky"-she's Bella now, and doing great. Her hair has finally grown back, though now I'm dressing her as she gets soooo cold outside. We ended up doing a weekly Sulfa-Lyme bath which is perfectly stinky- only one more to go, and we finished our series of shots for sarcoptic mange just in case. Here's a most recent picture! She's adorable and sweet, and keeps me on my toes : ) |
Slim
n/k/a Bud ![]() |
Slim was adopted by the Garber family of Wisconsin in December 2002. This very lucky little boy was found as a stray with a bad case of cherry eye and very underweight. The loving people who found him took excellent care of him and were going to keep him but were unfortunately forced to give him up due to their own health issues. Now Slim will enjoy being the pampered only dog of the house but may have to share a little bit of attention with his 2 new kitty cousins. |
Slinky n/k/a Duke |

happy with him. I don't think we could have adopted a better puppy to join our
family. We would all like to thank you for the wonderful job that you have done
with him and for taking such good care of him for all this time. Spencer is
great with the kids and they love him so much!! I told my husband how much Spencer
loves to go fishing and he is excited to take him. There are now four of us
in our bed at night. Our two year old daughter always ends up sleeping with
us and now Spencer has joined the clan. We hope that you enjoy the picture and
we will keep in touch to let you know how he is doing. |
Spike
& Willow ![]() |
Spike and Willow were both adopted by the Simi/Lawrence family of Michigan in August 2003. Their new big brother, Pappy, a basset hound, will enjoy having the youngsters around to play with! Update: "Merry After X-mas!
I'm running late as usual - nothing surprising. Kids are doing so well -
housebroken, sit, down & off. They do have to sit down and consider
carefully before coming when called. But when they decide its time - look
out! Full speed all the way! They are growing in spurts but still maintaining
size difference. Their jowls and neck folds are awesome and the legs - incredible!
So thick I can't believe it. Willow is still the lover - snuggles up and
rolls those eyes. Everyon melts and she loves it! If I scold her, she either
runs to Dad or curls up on her pillow & looks so pathetic I have to
laugh. She owns us! Spike is big, handsome & such a sweetheart. He loves
to curl up on our laps (of course we can't move or breathe). He is such
a woosey - its crazy. If Willow barks at something in the yard, he hides
behind her until its gone. If I yell or even point my finger, he hides behind
Willow. She's tough and he knows it. Their personalities are great &
so different. We are very glad we took two. Watching them play & wrestle
is hilarious. Spike might be bigger but Willow's not a quitter. She stays
on his butt until he gives in or runs. Its great! We tried for pictures
with antlers but they got eaten. Just like the door, the window frames,
the curtains, the rugs, the pillows, etc. Is there anything they don't eat?
If there is, we haven't found it yet. And the sad part is - we just keep
laughing! They look so innocent, they make it hard to get mad! Crazy, huh?" |
Stella |
Stella was adopted by the Dayvolt family of Georgia in April 2002. Stella will enjoy the family's other dogs and cats and kids to romp around with! |

Strawberry n/k/a Belle ![]() |
Strawberry was adopted by the Helms family of Indiana in September 2004. She is a beautiful girl and will have fun playing with her many new 4-legged siblings. Her new mom is just a little bit happy too. Update: Just a note to thank you once again for my beautifull Belle. As you can see, she is a lovely girl & if you look a little closer on the "glamor shot" you can see where she hooked her poor ear on something (the back fence we think) & received a perfect 3 corner tear. The vet did a wonderful job and it has healed perfectly. I worried about the darn thing night & day - she didn't seem to notice it at all! Hope all is good with you & yours - and again, thanks from both of us. P.S. She is the reigning Queen and the other ladies (bassets, etc.) adore her...even the cats, who clean & groom her face! SPOILED! |
String
Bean |
String was adopted by the Belcore-Walkden family of Illinois in July 2004. |
Sue |
Sue was adopted by the Wempner family of Missouri in February 2004. This very fortunate girl is more than lucky for her new home - she is lucky to be alive. Sue was struck by a vehicle and turned in to MBR. Thanks to the excellent work by the Clarkson/Wilson Veterinary Clinic, Sue is doing well and on her way to recovery. Mrs. Wempner came into the clinic, saw Sue and the rest is history. Update 6/04: Sue is doing great and very healthy now. She is very playful and we are still dealing with some food aggression issues. Overall, she is doing very, very well. |
Sugar ![]() |
Sugar was adopted by the Tanas family of Illinois in February 2009. |
Tank |
Tank was adopted by the Bland family of Illinois in June 2005. This beautiful black & tan boy joins Memphis, a young male bloodhound, as his new playmate and a loving family. His new family has owned several bloodhounds so they know all the particular joys of being owned by one. They recently lost their beloved 12 yr. old female and their young male was grieving also. |
Tara ![]() |
Our beautiful girl Tara has been adopted by the Jeno family of North Dakota in April 2004. Tara had a rough start to life as a stray in southern Kentucky. Now that shes healthy shell be living with two sisters and a brother who will love her and care for her. Thats all Tara ever really wanted; to be hugged. Tara was last seen in the back seat of a van being hugged by three kids on the way to her new home. |
Tasha ![]() |
Tasha was adopted by the Herring family of Illinois in August 2003. Her drool will not bother her new family one bit as they just lost their beloved pet Mastiff. Now Tasha will be the pampered family pet and have lots of fun riding around/hanging out with Dad and playing with her new 2-legged sister. Mom gets to do all the fun stuff, like ear cleaning! |
Tessa |
Tessa was adopted by the Osuzik family of Michigan in October 2005. She joins big brother, Amos, another MBR bloodhound. Tessa and Amos looked like odd-sized bookends! Her new family plans on teaching Tessa to follow in Amos' pawprints by becoming a therapy dog. Update 12/07: Everyone is fine. Got lots of snow. Do have a few more grey hair though.......Some how one of the doors of the house popped open and BOTH dogs got out. I called and called and after about 5 min (Felt more like hours) Amos came through the woods but not Tessa. I got in the car and called my neighbors to keep an eye out for her. Luckaly we had snow the night before and I was able to see footprints. The were along the road and would come and go. After driving down the road about 1/2 mi screaming her name, I saw her trotting from behind a house. I jumped out of the car and when she saw me, she came flying with a look "where have you been....I didn't know where I was." She jumped into the back seat and just kept licking my face. She was velcroed to me the rest of the day. It was so cold that day and all I could think of was a Bloohound named Elly Mae that got lost in July and was never found. We are in the woods and if she had gotten in the woods I never would have found her. I came home and had 2 glasses of wine..... Needless to say we are double checking the door when we go out. |
Tex ![]() |
Tex left Ohio for horse country in Kentucky in February 2005. He’s been adopted by the Slovis Family and was last seen checking out the other four legged critters on their horse farm. He’s staying away from the cats though after getting a scratch on his nose. |
Theo n/k/a Winslow ![]() |
Theo was adopted by the Hertel family of New York in February 2006. Update: Once again A BIG THANKS for meeting us in IN. The rip home was uneventful. Winslow is doing really well. I have been busy taking him everywhere to socialize him more. He was on the timid side esp. with big men. He's been to petsmart twice and various other of my "hangouts". He and tom's dogs get on VERY WELL. They play tug all the time & sleep next to each other. He has adjusted really well. We have mastered Load....getting in the truck by himself. Working on begrudgingly cleaning off paws before coming in the house. Doing great on come and sit when called. HE IS SOOO SMART! Will keep in touch and send pics now and then. |
Thomas "Tommy" Cheeseburger |
Tommy was adopted by his foster family, the Dean's, of Ohio in December 2005. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to save Tommy because of his extreme starvation. As you can see by the pictures, he is now a handsome boy! |
Thomas |
Thomas was adopted by the Havis family of Illinois in January 2008. This is indeed one lucky boy! First, he survives extremely poor care and a high kill shelter in Georgia. Then he found a wonderful adoptive home who thought they were ready for a big, goofy bloodhound but weren't. Then he finds another loving home, that has had bloodhounds before and just want a big lug to love. They found that and more with Thomas! Their senior basset isn't too happy yet but she'll come around. Update 1/08: Thomas is adjusting fine. No accidents in the house, amazing. It took 45 minutes, but he figured out the dog door. Sophie helped, she kept going in and out. Was she doing it on purpose? . He slept at the foot of my feet last night (I fell asleep on the couch). Sophie is still giving him dirty looks, she wants to be the boss and Thomas seems fine with that. It's surprised us that Sophie didn't welcome him with open "arms". He's enjoying walking around smelling everything. He liked watching me make dinner. Just for our own peace of mind we have an appoint at the vet on Monday. He had me laughing this morning when he managed to fit himself into Sohpie's dog bed. Update 2/08: Thomas is wonderful. We love him. I think he's put on a bit of weight. Sophie (the basset) is accepting him, she's kissed him a few times. He acts like a puppy, maybe he never had a chance to be one. He's decided to sleep next to our bed (on pillows), sometimes he naps in (or I should say on) Sophie's little dog bed. He's practically on top of it because he certainly doesn't completely fit into it. He really doesn't seem to know the basics such as sit, etc. But he's learning and he loves being a good boy. He can officially shake hands now and I'm teaching him "Find It!". Which in turn is helping to teach him "stay". The stay part is not going very well, but being Thomas the Bloodhound, he thinks everything's a great game. I'll keep you posted. I assume you're interested, because I would be if I were in your shoes. Update 4/08: Thomas is the most wonderful sweetest dog in the whole world. We had that cyst removed and the huge wart (he was scratching it and making it bleed) and several others, and a lose tooth removed. Everyone loves him at the vet's office and he loves everyone there. He recovered just fine and is more playful than ever. He was very good and didn't have to be a "cone head dog". He's in such good shape, the vet took x rays of his hips for free (that was nice) no hip dysplasia at all. So it will probably be a long time before he gets to visit his friends at the vet's office, especially the cats, he loves their cats. We can't get him to come when we call his name however, a whistle and he stops dead in his tracks and turns and comes running. What a good boy. (Did you teach him that or did he just come that way?) Mike (my husband) does everything, feeds him, cleans his ears (a daily task because those growths he had all over are also inside his ears as well), he takes him to the vet, and takes him on occasional adventures. But he's my dog. He likes me best. I couldn't be happier. My brother says Thomas is in Dog Heaven, but so am I. Update 10/08: I haven't any updates, Thomas is part of the family. He doesn't like bugs, so after the mosquitos hit he spends most of his days inside, no more laying in the warm sun. (We have a dog door, he always had the option.) We're planning a camping trip, we have a little trailer. Thomas won't go in it, fine..he can sleep in the car. He likes the car. He and Sophie (our bassett) obviously love each other and have made a relationship for themselves, but Thomas likes Sophie more than Sophie likes Thomas. Sophie still wont play with Thomas. This still stuns us, as Sophie likes all dogs, or so we thought until the day we picked up Thomas. |
Tink (a/k/a Tinkerbelle) ![]() ![]() |
Tink was adopted by the Mandeville family of Montana in May 2005. This wonderful family lost their beloved bloodhound due to old age and missed having a big 'ole slobberer around. They saw Tink's picture on the internet and she just kinda "spoke" to them. Tink will be the very loved only dog at her new home and will have lot of room to run around and play. Update: We are anxious to let you know that things are going GREAT with Tink. I loved her by the end of our first day together. And Todd loved her the day I brought her home. We ADORE her--and she loves us, too. She loves her yard--and her dog bed in the living room. We'll send photos soon, but I just wanted to tell you that all's well here. She was SO GOOD in the car all the way home. She was also VERY well behaved at my aunt's home, and with her dog--at the motel the next night, and at PETCO where we shopped for her new collar and her dog food. All of our family and friends that have met her so far are really charmed by her. (They've been anxious for her arrival and she hasn't dis-appointed them) Thanks for matching us up with her. Your description of her as a "sweetheart" was right on. It just breaks my heart--and makes me cry, of course(ha!)-that she's gone all of her life til now without being loved this much. Because if she was, they'd never have given her up. They missed out. |
TJ |
TJ was adopted by the Lillie family of Illinois in November 2004. |
Tommy
Boy |
Tommy Boy was adopted by the Evans family of California in April 2004. MBR identified Tommy's drive and "nosiness" right off the bat. He will get every opportunity to use it in his new home as he trains for SAR work. His new older bloodhound sister will also enjoy Tommy's companionship! Update 5/04: Just wanted to let you know that Tommy Boy is doing well. He is gaining more stamina during his exercise. He is also busy doing 12-15 puppy tracks per week. He is really starting to enjoy tracking people. We won't do anything harder for a while as I want to build a strong drive foundation before we advance. Tommy Boy and Penny wrestle for hours at a time. Update 8/04: I got the vest from Ray Allen Manufacturing. The web address is www. rayallen.com. The vest has proven to be very durable and strong. By the way, Tommy Boy is running fresh tracks up to 1/2 mile with good success. He is impressing everyone on our team. He goes bananas when he sees the tracking harness coming out. |
Tony n/k/a Chubbie ![]() |
Tony was adopted by the Lovelock/LeClerc family of Michigan in January 2005. This very lucky & handsome boy will be the pampered only pet. Tony would like to thank everyone who sent donations to help him through his ordeal. All he needs now is a little more weight and a lifetime of love. |
Travis
& Trouble n/k/a Rusty ![]() |
Travis and Trouble were adopted by the Sikorski/Nelson family of Illinois in November 2003. These spunky brothers will enjoy playing with their new big sister, Abby. Abby was previously adopted from MBR (her name was Apple then) by the Sikorski/Nelson's and they decided that Abby needed a playmate. Well, she has two new playmates now! Update 7/04: Travis and Trouble n/k/a Rusty love to play on the trampoline. Their birthday was on June 4th so they are a year old now. We love them and I think they know it. They are very spoiled! |
Trusty
n/k/a Kona |
Trusty was adopted by the Polka/Sitts family of Illinois in October 2003. This beautiful bloodhound/lab mix puppy will be their pampered only pooch (he'll have to share some of the attention with with his new kitty cousin). His new dad is a triathlete so Trusty will get lots of exercise! |
Twinkle
n/k/a Haley Jo ![]() |
Haley Jo was adopted by the Peck family of Canada in January 2002. She joins
big sister, Daisy (basset hound), who is not real sure if she likes sharing
her house yet. Twinkle is such a sweet girl that we are sure she will
win Daisy over in no time! Update: Hello
from Canada and Haley the Hound!
Things are going well with Haley . We have had some minor mishaps with expensive
library books and sofas, but they should not have been left where puppies could
reach.Haley loves to sit by the front window and watch the world go by.Unfortunately
we have wild rabbits in our neighbourhood that like to sit in the front yard
and tease her. This leads to alot of noisy mornings. Our cranky Basset Daisy tries
to ignore Haley as much as possible. Our neighbors have a collie cross that can
match Haley's size and enery level so we try to get them together for play time
as much as possible.Haley just loves to have attention paid to her from everyone
she meets, although not everyone appreciates her drooly ways.Just one of the
joys of owning a Bloodhound.
Thanks again for letting us adopt Haley |
Wags ![]() |
Wags was adopted by the Ream/Poling family of Ohio in December 2003. The beautiful red boy (who got his name from a troop of Girl Scouts) will enjoy playing with the families Husky, who has been moping inside without a playmate. He will also have a new 2-legged sister to love on. In his off-hours, he will also begin training as a SAR dog. |
Wally
II ![]() |
Wally was adopted by the Harsell family of Indiana in November 2002. They have been fostering Wally since he came into rescue. We soon discovered that the source of Wally's crankiness was due to hip dysplasia and arthritis. Since he has been on medication, he has become a very spoiled (Wally insists on regular foot massages) and active boy! His new bloodhound brother seems to think he is pretty cool also. |
Waylon |
Waylon was adopted by the McDuffee family of Indiana in October 2007. He will have fun playing with his new 4-legged little sister, a basset hound, and going jogging with his new Mom & Dad! |
Webber & Callie n/k/a Willow ![]() |

Wesley
n/k/a Beaumont |
Wesley was adopted by the Gallegos family of Colorado in August 2003. The mellow pup will enjoy playing with his 2 new bloodhound brothers and his basset hound brother. Update: I am emailing to give you an
update on Beaumont (a.k.a Wesley) and to see
how our boy Banjo is doing. We miss him so much. I hope he is doing
wonederfully and has found his forever home. They better spoil him!!!
Wesley's name is now Beaumont. He is doing so awsome. He slept the about
14
out of the 15 hours back home to Colorado! He was so good. He has started
puppy classses and is now in training for search and rescue. He is having
fun testing his older brothers to their limits, but they are very gentle.
And we are proud to say, Beaumont has mastered the art of going potty
outside!!! Yea! I will send pictures as soon I get all 4 rolls developed!
If
you have any of Banjo, could you email them to me? We hope all is well. |
Whynnie |
Whynnie was adopted by the Wudkewych family of Michigan in May 2006. He will join big brother Thor, a senior Rottie, 4 feline cousins and 4 two-legged new siblings! This goofy, quiet boy will enjoy playing at his new home with all of his new companions and snoring on his new couch! Update: I just wanted you to know that Whynnie is doing fine. As soon as we got him home he found the nearest mud hole and rolled completely around in it. He wouldn’t let me rinse him with a hose so I took him in to try to give him a bath and he proceeded to jump on my bed which was soon covered in mud. He seemed very happy. Other than that he’s been perfect. The kids love him, he ignores that cat and he and the other dog are doing fine together. He’s finally wagging his tail when he sees me. He’s going to the lake with us this weekend. We’ll see how he likes the water. He demanded that he help me take the kids to school where of course he was a hit with all of the kids. Then he wanted to go to work with me but I had to put my foot down and take him out of the car. I left to a chorus of howling. He is such a sweet dog. We love him. Thanks a lot! |
Wilbur |
Wilbur was adopted by the Axford/Schoemmell
family of Wisconsin in February 2004. Wilbur was far and away the goofiest dog we have
had the pleasure of helping. He bounces on his front legs, catches flies
that only he can see, bats you with his front paws like a cat and has
a tongue that is too long for his snoot (so it usually hangs out a little
big)! He ain't pretty but he's a loveable lug! He will enjoy playing with
his new parents and will especially enjoy going to work with Mom (Mom
works at a doggie daycare facility). |
Willie n/k/a Hank ![]() |
Willie was adopted by the Sawyers/Lamanen family of Michigan in October 2007. This young couple will have fun playing & exercising with their new "kid". If nothing else, MBR is sure Willie will definately keep them entertained! Update 12/07: Just sending a "hello" from John,Jolyn and Hank from Michigan. We were the ones who adopted Willie on October 21, 2007. We just wanted to tell you that we renamed him Hank and he is doing fine. Here are somepictures of Hank in his new home. |

Willow
II |
Willow II was adopted by the Carpenter family of Kansas in October 2004. This beautiful, mellow senior will be the pampered only dog but will have lots of farm animals to hang out with! |
Wrinkles ![]() |
Wrinkles was adopted by the Lundeen family of Illinois in April 2004. Wrinkle and his sister, Raisin, are both very lucky bloodhounds. Their "dad" and border collie "brother" were killed by the family's lion. Raisin went to her new home first and now Wrinkle has a new home! He will be the very spoiled only pet but will get to enjoy doing laps in the family pool with Dad! Update: Wrinkle didn't waste any time making himself at home. Our pool now has a permeable winter cover over it. As soon as Wrinkle and I arrived home we went into our backyard, I brought a bowl of water for him. The bowl wasn't good enough for the big lug. He immediately sniffed out the pool and made his way onto the cover. The cover slowly sank under his weight as he lapped up the water. Soon the water was up to his belly, he loved it! The next morning we again went into the backyard where Wrinkle snubbed his water bowl in favor of the pool. At first I though I'd just let him get it out of his system and have fun, but then I though that maybe we should restrict pool time to when the pool is actually open and uncovered! From then on I made sure he went to his water bowl first before even approaching the pool. That in combination with a few firm "no's" has cured him of his pool wandering. He now happily trots the perimeter but never actually goes on top. Talk about obedience. Wrinkle doesn't want to leave my side and is very eager to please. He loves car rides and walks always at my right side never pulling. He sits and gets down on command. When he hears "no" he stops what he's doing and generally sits down and looks at me. We all feel lucky that he is a part of our family Update 1/08: Just thought that I would let you know that Wrinkle is moving to Louisiana at the end of March and he’s bringing his humans along, too! He’s doing fine and is having fun with his new sisters (I got remarried in 2006 and adopted Trixie and Nugget). Attached is a picture of Wrinkle with one of his humans (Alex) and his new sisters. |
Yang n/k/a Brenna |
Yang was adopted by the Cipiti/Kille family in July 2007. |
Zack |
Zack was adopted by the O'Meara family of Illinois in December 2002. He is proof that sometimes the best Christmas presents arrive on the 26th! His new Jack Russel brother and he will have a lot of fun together after Jack recovers from having to share the spotlight. Zack will also enjoy his three new 2-legged siblings. |
Zada |
Zada was adopted by the Janesku family of Illinois in September 2004. |
Zander ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Zander was adopted by the Stephens family of Texas in August 2003. Zander promises to
be a really big boy when all grown up. He will get plenty of exercise
playing with his new sister, Miss Molly, also a bloodhound. Miss Molly
is up and running with her SAR work so the family decided it was time
to get another kid working! Zander will also have fun playing with the
"little people" - the family's 11 dachshounds. |
Zeke |
Zeke was adopted by the Johnson family of Illinois in March 2007. |
Zoe |
Zoe was adopted by the Ward family of Indiana in December 2005. Her new dad plans on training her for SAR work, which means that Zoe will have a productive outlet for all of her energy! Zoe also gains three new 4-legged sisters and a 2-legged little brother. Update 2/08: Here is a recent picture of Zoe, and her baby Kieran. As you can see the Humane Society was slightly off when they said she was a food aggressive dog :) Her and the little guy are best friends. We would have loved to have been able to adopt one of the puppies that you rescued, bit unfortunately I don't think the neighbors would have enjoyed it. We have 2 Blood hounds now, a young , frisky 1 yr old black and tan to keep Zoe going. Update 3/08: Anyway, Zoe has ruptured her ACL. We took her to the vet and they said that she could either have surgery or take pain meds and heel by resting. However, I have done some internet research and it seems that the prospects for a large dog without surgery are quite grim. I called the vet that I was told did the surgery for $700, but he says no dogs over 50 pounds for him. The other vet charges $2000. We don't have either amount anyway, but I was hoping to make a payment arrangement or something, but no dice. So now I don't know quite what to do, because I had then thought we could use our tax check but that will not be $2000. SO...do you have any advice or insight into this condition? Know a kindly bloodhound loving vet anywhere that will make payment arrangements for us, or a foundation that will assist with funding this sort of thing? Or just any wisdom in general? Your advice has always proven to be very sound for us in the past. We are just holding right now, have her crated and doped up. However, even the meds they gave us run over 50/week if we need to continue with that. Yikes, I have always so worried about when the dogs get sick and we don't have any savings. It's an ethical problem, should poor people own dogs? But somebody has to, after all. |
